into the east......bubbles galore

the kind that make you float oh so gently. Reims at the top the champagne district is where I started this adventure, and it was all up from there, or rather down into the limestone caves that house millions, yes millions of bottles of that lovely, sparkling, yeasty beverage, the fountain an indication of things to come. Notwithsatnding that it was 1st May, a day sacrosanct in this part of my lil world, and explains all the people selling the little bunches of lily of the valley, there were a few champagne houses open to the likes of moi. So after descending 10 + metres underground where the mean temp is 10 degrees celsius, the world of champagne making, bottling and storing opened up... well some behind bars, and what wasn't went down my throat oh so easily. I drank it on its own, with duck, with oysters, a weird kind of fried tapas and a calzone having an identity crisis - ham, cheese, onions, chorizo and an egg, was that breakfast or lunch. with guiness in an Irish pub, (they really are everywhere), but didn't drink it in church, just lit drunken candles for the dear departed. Sad to come down to the cold reality of cloud, rain but then the rainbow took me up again
